Control.dev vs BrightAnalytics

A broad reporting and consolidation suite with hundreds of connectors, against one group view your own team changes, live in under two hours for most companies.

Verdict

BrightAnalytics fits a group that wants a broad reporting and consolidation suite from one vendor, with hundreds of ready connectors, the statutory steps calculated and operational reporting next to finance, set up by its team.

Control.dev fits a group that wants the eliminations, the CTA and the three-statement plan in one view its own team changes, with Claude, ChatGPT or Codex on the same numbers and, for most companies, live data in under two hours.

Why we compare BI and reporting tools on these topics

TopicBrightAnalyticsControl.dev
01 The work around the reportStructures and mappings changed in an admin panel BrightAnalytics says finance teams change structures, mappings, dashboards and permissions in its admin panel without a BI expert1, and its general conditions let it charge for additional services agreed with the client2.Your team changes it, or asks Claude Your finance team edits the functional P&L, its allocation keys and a layout per audience, AI suggests the account mapping for the team to accept, and Claude drafts a dashboard you apply or discard, with no consultants to pay.
02 When the second ledger arrivesAI intercompany matching and the statutory toolkit BrightAnalytics matches intercompany items with AI and eliminates them once you confirm3, and documents equity-method consolidation, non-controlling interests, goodwill and deferred tax4.Eliminations in their own column, CTA kept apart Control.dev consolidates the ledgers each entity keeps, calculates Currency CTA and Elimination CTA apart from the eliminations, your AI client lists the intercompany pairs that do not match, and every figure opens to its entries.
03 Planning on the same numbersDriver-based budgets, locked versions and scenarios BrightAnalytics’ FP&A page describes driver-based and trend budgeting, rolling forecasts, locked budget versions, a scenario builder, and budget import and export with Excel5.A budget from a prompt, versions you can lock The P&L, balance sheet and cash flow are planned together, every version keeps its history and a locked one refuses every write, and your AI client drafts values with a reason on every cell.
04 AI on the numbersAI agents and an MCP server since June 2026 BrightAnalytics’ AI roadmap dates AI account mapping to June 2024 and its AI agents and MCP server to June 20266, and the MCP connector lets Claude and ChatGPT query its consolidated data within each user’s permissions7.Claude, ChatGPT or Codex on the consolidated group They work over MCP with the user’s own role in every plan, and that MCP is built and tested for group accounting. The client starts from the statements and the group structure, not a raw export of the general ledger: it finds what needs attention and traces it to the entries. It also reviews a month’s bookings on request and drafts the board pack, and Control.dev’s own AI chat processes data in the EU.
05 Time to live, and how you leaveAbout a month to live, prices in the agreement, three months’ notice In one published case a customer went live about a month after signing8, BrightAnalytics publishes no prices9, and its general conditions run open-ended with three months’ notice10.Live in under two hours for most companies, no setup fee, billed monthly Our team sets up the integrations and the mapping and most companies have live data in under two hours, the prices are public with no setup fee and no multi-year contract, the notice period starts from one month, billing is monthly and the free trial runs 30 days.

Control.dev consolidates the ledgers a group already runs into one group view with eliminations.

Where BrightAnalytics is the better choice

  • Many more ready connectors. BrightAnalytics says it connects to more than 400 systems11, among them the Nordic ledgers Control.dev connects and DATEV through a partnership12. Control.dev connects fewer systems today, and a DATEV ledger comes in as an export through an AI client.
  • The statutory steps calculated in the tool: equity method, non-controlling interests, goodwill and deferred tax4. Control.dev handles minority interests with group-level manual entries.
  • Operational reporting from the same vendor: deal pipeline, ARR and MRR, billable hours, headcount and ESG next to the financials13.

When teams look at Control.dev

From what finance teams have told us about the moment they started looking. We name no customers.

  • Late in a selection. Teams sometimes meet Control.dev after a broad suite is already approved internally. They ask for a short trial on their own ledgers and a price they can compare the same week.
  • Starting clean after a lighter package. Teams that began on a limited edition of a broad suite want consolidation, the budget and AI on one set of numbers, without modules they will not use.
  • Mixed European ledgers. Groups on Procountor, Tripletex, Fortnox or DATEV in different countries want one group view with eliminations, and AI on transaction-level data from their own Claude or ChatGPT.

Which fits your finance team

Choose BrightAnalytics if you want a broad, established suite with hundreds of connectors, the statutory steps calculated and operational reporting next to finance, set up with the vendor’s team.

Choose Control.dev if you want the eliminations, the CTA and the plan in one view your team changes itself, on the ledgers you already have, with your own AI client on the numbers from the first week.

Working with Control.dev

  • Live in hours or days, not months Our team sets Control.dev up with you. Most companies have live data in under two hours from the first call, a larger group takes days, the hardest a few weeks, and there is no setup fee at any size. The comparison hub shows how long each vendor says its own rollout takes.
  • Prices on one page, nothing billed on the side EUR 249, 499 and 999 a month excluding VAT, on the pricing page, with no multi-year contract and a notice period from one month. Support, user changes and settings changes are in the price, and nothing is billed per ticket or per request.
  • Close support from the people who build the product Your questions go to the team that builds Control.dev, most are answered within minutes and almost all the same day, and we work through accounting and group-structure questions with you, not only software questions.
  • Your AI client on a structure built for group accounting Claude, ChatGPT or Codex works on Control.dev over an MCP built and tested for group accounting. The client starts from the statements and the group structure, not a raw export of the general ledger: it finds what needs attention and traces it to the entries, within the access your role allows.
  • Built with the finance teams that use it, at pace Our roadmap comes from our customers, demanding finance professionals, and a gap in a feature list is the best news we can get. A missing feature typically ships in days and a larger one in weeks. A ledger connector we would build anyway comes at no extra cost; today Control.dev connects Netvisor, Procountor, Easor (Talenom), Fortnox, Spiris (formerly Visma eEkonomi), Tripletex, e-conomic, Xero, QuickBooks, Zoho Books, Odoo, Xledger and NetSuite, plus Stripe.
  • A younger product, and who it is for Control.dev is built by Finata Oy in Helsinki since 2024, by a team from finance roles and finance systems. It fits a team that already works with AI tools, or wants to, and would rather not keep data engineers or system consultants for its reporting. If AI is not something your company wants to work with, we are probably the wrong partner, and where another tool covers more than Control.dev, the page above says so.

What switching looks like

  1. 1 Run both side by side for a period. Control.dev reads your ledgers with read-only access by default, so BrightAnalytics and your ledgers stay as they are while you compare the numbers. The 30-day free trial covers up to three integrations.
  2. 2 Send us screenshots of the three or four reports your board already knows, and we rebuild them in Control.dev first, so the first month looks familiar.
  3. 3 Your contract and notice period decide when you leave the current tool. Control.dev has no implementation fee and no multi-year contract, and its notice period starts from one month, so the parallel run can start well before then.

Questions

Is Control.dev an alternative to BrightAnalytics?

For many groups, yes. Both consolidate the Nordic ledgers, and both connect Claude and ChatGPT over MCP7. BrightAnalytics covers more statutory steps and operational reporting from one vendor413. Control.dev is built for the team that wants the eliminations, the CTA and the three-statement plan in one view it changes itself, without a setup project.

What do setup and later changes cost?

With Control.dev, our team sets up the integrations and the mapping with no setup fee, and most companies have live data in under two hours; Inven connected its sources and ran its first automated sync in hours. Later changes to a mapping, a layout or a dashboard are made by your team or its AI client, with no consultants to pay. BrightAnalytics publishes no prices9. Its general conditions put a setup fee, the subscription and extra modules in the quote14, and in one published case the customer went live about a month after signing8. Control.dev publishes its monthly prices, excluding VAT: EUR 249 for one entity and one integration, EUR 499 for consolidation with three integrations and EUR 999 with five, where a Stripe connection counts as one integration, with no implementation fee, no multi-year contract and a notice period from one month.

Can we use Claude or ChatGPT on our group data?

Yes, with either product. BrightAnalytics’ FP&A page names Claude, ChatGPT and Microsoft’s AI assistant as models that connect to its live data15. In Control.dev, Claude, ChatGPT and Codex also draft the budget with a reason on every value, draft dashboards you apply or discard, and review a month’s bookings on request. The client starts from the statements and the group structure, not a raw export of the general ledger. The product docs show how to connect each client, and MCP is in every plan.

Which ledgers does each connect to?

Both connect Procountor, Netvisor, Fortnox, Spiris (Visma eEkonomi), Tripletex, e-conomic, Xero and QuickBooks, and BrightAnalytics adds DATEV through a partnership12. BrightAnalytics says it connects to more than 400 systems11. Control.dev connects Netvisor, Procountor, Easor (Talenom), Fortnox, Spiris (formerly Visma eEkonomi), Tripletex, e-conomic, Xero, QuickBooks, Zoho Books, Odoo, Xledger and NetSuite, plus Stripe, and a DATEV ledger comes in as an export through an AI client. Singa kept the systems its three entities already run, including Procountor, Xero and Stripe, and has its revenue data on day one, without an ERP project.

Does Control.dev calculate minority interests and goodwill?

Not automatically today. Control.dev consolidates connected entities in full, with intercompany eliminations, currency translation and CTA, and minority interests are handled with group-level manual entries. BrightAnalytics documents automatic non-controlling interest entries, goodwill and deferred tax on consolidation adjustments4.

Where is the data stored and processed?

BrightAnalytics hosts its data in an ISO 27001 data centre in Belgium16 and says its built-in AI runs on its own models on its own infrastructure17. Control.dev’s data is hosted on Google Cloud in Hamina, Finland, encrypted in transit and at rest, and Finata Oy’s security management is ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certified. Control.dev’s own AI features process data in the EU; an AI client you connect over MCP processes what it reads under your agreement with its provider.

What support do we get?

Close support on every plan. Your questions go to the team that builds Control.dev, most are answered within minutes and almost all the same day, and we work through accounting and group-structure questions with you, not only software questions. Support, user changes and settings changes are in the price, and Enterprise adds a dedicated Slack channel and priority support.
